Communicating In English vs Making Mistakes In English

Communicating In English vs Making Mistakes In English. Which one do you focus on?

As Stephen Covey’s said in his book ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’, “focus only on what you can control and influence”.

Communicating In English vs Making Mistakes In English is normal. And making mistakes in English is normal, but we shouldn’t become obsessed with not making mistakes in English. As this can quickly ‘snowball’ (grow into a bigger problem) to become frustrating for us and we can easily lose motivation.

By focusing on our mistakes we can enter a vicious cycle where we train our brain to look for more mistakes, instead of focusing and training our brain to focus on developing key areas for communicating well in English. Remember which one

Remember making mistakes is all part of the learning process and learning journey.

Instead it is so much more powerful and motivating to focus on what we can control and influence as Stephen Covey said in his book.

When communicating in English we suggest focusing on these six areas.

Here are 6 tips and techniques that have helped lots of professionals in our training:

——–

✅ Think about your audience’s needs (what do they need from you? what do you want them to do with your key message?)

✅ Structure your content (clear and easy to follow structure)

✅ CSC ideas (CSC ideas and CSC communication. CSC is clear, simple and concise)

✅ Use a story to tell your main idea (to grab and maintain the audience’s attention)

✅ Anticipate the main questions and objections, prepare answers to them (find the 5 main questions that the audience could ask and prepare answers to them)

✅ Practice, practice and practice speaking what you are going to say (until it feels part of you and natural. We suggest video recording or audio recording yourself speaking)
