English Coaching Tip:
Improving your Business English at work when you are a perfectionist Part II.
“Are you a perfectionist at work?”, this is a question we like to ask professionals and managers.
And we also ask them, “what are your English Work Goals?”
Often professionals, set very difficult and unreasonable goals. And they find it difficult to set specific achievable goals for their English Work Goals. This is especially true of perfectionists, who expect to transfer their good communication skills in their own language into good communication skills in English.
English Work Goals (examples).
“I want to be bilingual”.
“I want to do my job as well in English as in….”.
“I want to be fluent in English”.
“I want to do work presentations like I do in Spanish”.
“I want to participate well in meetings in English like I do in my own language”
